Now if you have even a single server monitoring license you can monitor an unlimited number of servers at no extra charge! The Server Monitoring modules are add-ons for Load Tester that add the ability to monitor a couple dozen different parameters from the Windows or Linux operating systems or the .NET application server. Previously they were licensed on a per-server basis, which meant a license had to be issued for each server, and customers who purchased a bunch had the hassle of managing a handful of licenses, each of which had to be installed and updated.
In the end there was a choice between ease of use and the complicated coding needed to improve the licensing, and I decide to just make monitoring a simple on/off switch. Either you own a monitoring license or you don’t. If you don’t have the module you can still monitor memory and CPU usage on an unlimited number of servers, but if you have a license with ASA turned on, suddenly you can monitor dozens of OS-level parameters for Linux, and the same parameters on Windows, PLUS a bunch of .NET performance stats. One nice thing about the OS-level stats is we spent time matching the stats between Linux and Windows so if you have a mixed-OS rig when you compare stats you’re comparing the same thing between operating systems.
Note that this is only available on the Load Tester 4.2 release or later. If you own an earlier release you’ll have to upgrade to take advantage of unlimited monitoring.
