One of the things that makes Web Performance software great is the tight cooperation between our load testing services and software developers. Our load testing engineers are always running over to the software engineers and begging for changes to make their lives easier, and the 4.2 beta is the first in a series of upgrades designed to put these internal upgrades into your hands.
One of the tasks that takes a load testing engineer a significant amount of time is configuring fields, the way that each virtual user can enter unique data during a testcase. Load Tester 4.2 includes an enhanced Fields View for superior flexibility when configuring custom load tests, and automated configuration for many frequently used routines. Field customization is more intuitive, and users can now save their favorite configurations for later use. All fields are visible without switching to headers view, and a Quick Search finds and highlights fields by name, value or other text.
Load Tester 4.2 also includes improvements to automatic test case configuration. For example, E-Tag support is now turned on by default for all testcases, eliminating a configuration step that can often be overlooked.
In conjunction with the 4.2 release prices have been reduced on 32-bit cloud-based load engine rentals, moving from $10/hour to $1/hour. 64-bit load engines with a greatly increased load generation ability will soon be available at $3/hour.
