{"id":2360,"date":"2011-07-29T09:24:29","date_gmt":"2011-07-29T13:24:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.webperformance.com\/load-testing-tools\/blog\/?p=2360"},"modified":"2015-01-06T14:51:49","modified_gmt":"2015-01-06T18:51:49","slug":"modifying-recorded-urls-in-load-tester-4-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.webperformance.com\/load-testing-tools\/blog\/2011\/07\/modifying-recorded-urls-in-load-tester-4-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Changing Recorded hostnames &#038; URLs in Load Tester"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>From time to time we get support questions from customer asking us how to update\u00a0a recorded testcase to a different URL without having to re-record the testcase. \u00a0If the content of the new URL\/server is very similar to the original URL\/server, then a re-recording of the testcase may not be necessary. \u00a0Simply updating the recorded URLs with the new URLs should be all that is needed to get the original recording working with the new URL\/server. \u00a0Below are the steps on how to update recorded URLs in Load Tester 4.2.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Updating recorded URLs<\/strong><br \/>\nIn order to change the transaction URLs, switch to the <em>Fields<\/em> view. While in the <em>Fields<\/em> view, click on the drop down menu and select &#8220;hostname&#8221;. \u00a0The <em>Fields<\/em> view should be now be updated to show the recorded URLs.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.webperformance.com\/load-testing-tools\/blog\/2011\/07\/modifying-recorded-urls-in-load-tester-4-2\/recordedurl\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2397\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2397 aligncenter\" title=\"RecordedURL\" src=\"https:\/\/www.webperformance.com\/load-testing-tools\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/RecordedURL.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"590\" height=\"356\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Once the <em>Fields<\/em> view has been updated, select all the URLs that need to be updated, right click and select <em>Edit.<\/em> A new window will pop-up. \u00a0Click on the <em>DataSource<\/em> drop down menu and change the menu to <em>Text Constant<\/em>. \u00a0The<em> Text constant <\/em>will have the recorded value listed:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.webperformance.com\/load-testing-tools\/blog\/2011\/07\/modifying-recorded-urls-in-load-tester-4-2\/before\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2452\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2452\" title=\"Before\" src=\"https:\/\/www.webperformance.com\/load-testing-tools\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/Before.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"518\" height=\"372\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Delete the current URL and replace it with the new URL, then click on the OK button:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.webperformance.com\/load-testing-tools\/blog\/2011\/07\/modifying-recorded-urls-in-load-tester-4-2\/update-2\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2463\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2463\" title=\"Update\" src=\"https:\/\/www.webperformance.com\/load-testing-tools\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/Update1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"564\" height=\"406\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The <em>Fields<\/em> view shall now be updated to reflect the changes made. \u00a0The new URLs will be reflected under the <em>Datasource<\/em> column, while the <em>Recorded Value<\/em> column will continue to show the URLs used to record the testcase.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.webperformance.com\/load-testing-tools\/blog\/2011\/07\/modifying-recorded-urls-in-load-tester-4-2\/updatedfields-2\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2470\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2470\" title=\"UpdatedFields\" src=\"https:\/\/www.webperformance.com\/load-testing-tools\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/UpdatedFields1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"538\" height=\"285\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Be sure to go through each transaction and check to make sure that the URLs have all been updated. \u00a0A replay of the testcase will show the updated URLs in the <em>Editor<\/em> view.<\/p>\n<p>-Margaret<br \/>\nEngineer at Web Performance<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From time to time we get support questions from customer asking us how to update\u00a0a recorded testcase to a different URL without having to re-record the testcase. \u00a0If the content of the new URL\/server is very similar to the original URL\/server, then a re-recording of the testcase may not be necessary. \u00a0Simply updating the recorded URLs with the new URLs should be all that is needed to get the original recording working with the new URL\/server. \u00a0Below are the steps on how to update recorded URLs in Load Tester 4.2.<br \/>\nUpdating recorded URLs<br \/>\nIn order to change the transaction URLs, switch to &hellip;
